Benton Electric System (BES) is a municipal electric utility that serves approximately 2,500 customers and maintains 50 miles of line in the City of Benton, KY. BES is one of 153 local power companies that distribute electricity for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), their
wholesale power provider. BES is governed by The Electric Plant Board of the City of Benton (EPB) which consists of five members. Four members are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the Benton City Council. The fifth is a member of the city council and represents the Mayor of the City of Benton. The EPB meets on the third Tuesday of each month.
Since 1945, BES has strived to provide the safest, highest quality, and most reliable electricity at the lowest practical prices.

Residential - $200 security deposit
Commercial - $200 or previous 12 month billing average
Meter Set Fee - $25
Returned Check Fee - $50
Temporary Service Fee - $75
Meter Tampering Fee - $100
Reconnection Fee for nonpayment - $50
